Artic expedition trek in Svalbard, a Norwegian archipelago in the Arctic Ocean. Traveled from Oslo to the largest settlement of Longyearbyen on the west coast of Svalbard where the 8 day journey began via ship. Svalbard was previously known as Spitsbergen or Spitzbergen.
Each day a different itinerary was proposed and we would travel to a different area of Svalbard. Most days the itinerary included:
- Multiple landings via zodiacs
- Sea kayaking
- Onboard workshops on various topics
- Preplanned hikes
It was truly a wonderous place to visit and our group was very fortunate to see lots of cool wildlife as well as beautiful scenery.
During the trip wildlife sightings included:
- Polar Bears
- Seals
- Walrus
- Reindeer
- Various birds
